The Red Point & Tortie Point Siamese Cat Club (RP&TPSCC) is a member of the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF) and affiliated the Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB).The Club caters for Red Point, Cream Point, Apricot Point and all colours of Tortie Point Siamese. (These breeds are known as Colorpoint Shorthairs in the US).
Club members do not have to breed or show - many own Red, Tortie, Cream or Apricot Point Siamese pets or are simply interested in these breeds. They get at least once a year a free Club Journal - of varying thickness depending on the contributions received!
The Club is always happy to tell people about Red, Tortie, Cream or Apricot Point Siamese - whether they want a pet or a show or breeding cat. The Club is run for Members - it is THEIR Club and we welcome thoughts or suggestions. Our Committee Minutes will be available at the AGM for any Member to view.
The aims of the Club, as stated in its Rules, are
- To promote interest in the breeding, exhibiting and recognition of Red Point, Tortie Point, Cream Point & Apricot Point Siamese cats.
- In co-operation with other Affiliated Clubs, via the relevant Breed Advisory Committee, to establish Standards of Points and Registration Policies for Club breeds and to nominate persons for appointment as Judges of these breeds.
- To represent the interests of Club Members at the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy and at the relevant Breed Advisory Committees.
- To encourage the care and protection of cats generally.
The Club is a member of the Siamese Cat Joint Advisory Committee (SCJAC) - the Breed Advisory Committee for Siamese. The SCJAC consists of representatives from each of the Siamese Clubs and meets twice a year; it proposes changes to the Standards of Points or Registration Policy when necessary, as well as monitoring the candidates in the Judge Appointment scheme and proposing suitable candidates (who have completed the training scheme) for appointment as Judges of Siamese. These proposals then have to be approved at a GCCF Council meeting by delegates from all the Affiliated Clubs.
